Our Tissue Train project is a winner in the field of environmental sustainability
The event
On Thursday 16 December 2021 took place the seventeenth edition of the event Il Logistico dell’Anno, organised by Assologistica, Assologistica Cultura e Formazione and the magazine Euromerci. During the event were awarded managers and companies in the logistics and transport sector that have particularly distinguished themselves for the implementation of innovative projects.
The event, which took place at the Giorgio Squinzi Auditorium of Assolombarda in Milan and was broadcast live via streaming, alternated institutional moments of awards presentation with a series of speeches aimed at outlining the true identity of a supply chain of skills, often not very aware of their value.
The project
Our Tissue Train project, developed in collaboration with our customer Lucart, has been awarded for its innovative nature in the field of intermodality and environmental sustainability. Logistica Uno and Lucart share the same vision of sustainability and the same commitment to reducing the ecological footprint of their business.
With the activation of this project, which also involved Mercitalia Rail (Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato) and Interbrennero of Trento, it was possible to enrich the network of the paper district of Lucca, adding to the connections with Campania, Puglia and Sicily that with the autonomous province of Trento.
At the Interbrennero interport in Trento, our company manages an advanced stock for Lucart that is fed by a round-trip train connection with the Porcari plant, initially on a weekly basis, transporting 1.600 tonnes of paper products for a total of 1,000 kilometres in both directions.
Every train we run allows us to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 80%. In addition, stresses our Sales Manager Giampaolo Di Nuzzo, “this project has allowed us to remove from an already heavily trafficked motorway an amount equivalent to 25 lorries for each train journey made, to the benefit not only of sustainability but also of safety”.
