Not yet the echoes of the award received as “The Logistics of the year 2016” that immediately Logistica Uno faces 2017 with a major project to further reduce its carbon footprint. Recall that the Award has been assigned to Logistica Uno Europe and to Birra Castello for “the innovative project of sustainable multimodal approach“.
“The prize is rewarding for the path done so far to reduce the environmental impact – says Gabriele Cornelli, legal representative of Logistica Uno – but this should not be taken as a point of arrival but as a new starting point for the year 2017. We in fact, already on track the new “LNG Project”, through such means we will reduce our emissions also in those stages where our logistical modal shift can not intervene. ”
Stands for Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG is natural gas with a lower concentration of hydrocarbons and, therefore, with a capacity 11 times less polluting than more modern vehicles to transport goods. Specifically, the means used will be the Iveco Stralis that will help you:
– reduce particulate emissions to a minimum (-99% compared to the next-generation diesel engines EURO6);
– limit CO2 vehicle emissions by about 15%;
– reduce the noise level of the means of approximately 5 decibels;
– reduce consumption by 10% more than diesel engines (and therefore cost-effectiveness)
“Besides having an important Italian partners such as Iveco, the project also involves a major distributor of LNG refueling network support that goes to solve the weak spot for those who want to adopt this technology, namely the accessibility of supply points on our national network. -continuous Gabriele Cornelli- With our experience we are considering together the most strategic points to be given priority on the Italian territory (including Interporto I.S.E.), we will be among the “enablers” of the new European directive for the construction of infrastructure for alternative fuels.”
Recall that the new European Directive 2014/94 / EU of 22 October 2014 obliges member States to ensure that, by 31 December 2025, it is made an adequate number of points of supply for the LNG available to the public at least along the core network TEN-T (of which Interporto I.S.E. belongs to Corridor Scandinavian – Mediterranean) to ensure the circulation throughout the Union of heavy vehicles powered by LNG.
